About CRPF

The Central Reserve Police Force was established as the Crown Representative's Police on 27th July 1939. It was later renamed the Central Reserve Police Force on the promulgation of CRPF Act on 28th December 1949. The Force has been in existence for 82 years of incredible time. The Force has grown into an enormous organization, with the number of 246 Bns, (including 203 executive Bns and five VIP Security Bns, 6 Mahila Bns and 15 RAF Bns 10 CoBRA Bns and 05 Signal Bns Special Duty Group, 01 Parliament Duty Bns Special Duty Group, 01 Parliament Duty Group Special Duty Group, 01 Parliament Duty Group), 43 Group Centres 22 Training Institutes, 03 CWS. 07 AWS 03 MWS/SWS hospitals with 100 beds. 18 Composite Hospitals with 50 beds, as well as 06 field hospitals.

About Us

The Central Reserve Police Force began its existence under the name of the Crown Representative's Police on 27th July 1939. It was given the name of its own Central Reserve Police Force on the passing of the CRPF Act on 28th December 1949. It has been in existence for 82 years of glorious time. The Force has transformed into a massive organization which includes 2646 Bns (including the executive Bn of 208, six Mahila Bns, 15 RAF Bns, 10 CoBRA Bns aswell with 5 Signal Bns, The 1 Special Duty Group, 1 Parliament Duty Group), 43 Group Centres, 20 Training Institutions : 3 CWS, 7 AWS 2 SWS, 1 MWS, four Composite Hospitals with 100 bedded beds, and 17 composite hospitals with 50 beds.

Mission

The primary purpose of Central Reserve Police Force Central Reserve Police Force is for the government to ensure the Rule of Law, Public Order and Internal Security efficiently and effectively, and to preserve the nation's Integrity and to foster Social Harmony and Development by maintaining the supremacy of Constitution.

What's the exact form of CRPF?

The primary responsibilities of the CRPF are:

  • Crowd control
  • Control of the violence
  • Counter-Militancy/Insurgency operations.
  • The treatment for Left Wing Extremism
  • The general coordination and co-ordination of a large security arrangement specially with regard election security in regions that are insecure.
  • Should there be a battle there will be a battle between the enemies fighting. of Battle.
  • Participating in UN Peace Keeping Mission as per Govt. guidelines.
  • Operations for Rescue and Relievement at the period during Natural Calamities and disasters.

Organizational Set-up of the Force

The headquarters of the Force Hqrs of Central Reserve Police Force is located at Block No. 1, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. The Director is in charge of The CGO Complex. General who has the support of three Addl. Directors General , 9 Inspectors General of Police, a Financial Adviser and Director (Medical). The structure of the organisation is as follows :

Directorate General

Administration

Administration Directorate Administration Directorate is functioning under the supervision under the direction from lG (Adm). He is assisted by help from DIG (Adm) and DIG (Welfare).

Personnel

The Personnel Directorate is functioning under the direction of lG (Pers). He is assisted with DIG (Pers), DIG (CR and Vig), DIG (Org), DIG (Estt) and Comdt(Estt).

Training

The Training Directorate is working under the supervision under the supervision of IG(Training). The Directorate is supported by the aid from DIG (Training-l), DIG (Training-ll) and DIG(Sports).

Operations

Its Operations Directorate is functioning under the supervision of IG (OPS). The director is assisted by DIG (OPS-I) as well as DIG (OPS-II).

Provisioning

The Provisioning Directorate operates under the supervision of IG (Provisioning). They are assisted by the DIG (Prov) and (Mod & ORD), DIG (Mod & ORD), DIG(MT) and Comdt. (Mod) and Asstt. Director (Prov).

Communication

IG(Communication) is in charge of the Communication Dte. IG(Communication) is the person responsible for the Communication Dte. He is supported by DIG (Eqpt ), DIG (Tech) and DIG (IT) .

Intelligence

The Intelligence Directorate is functioning under the direction from IG (Intelligence). He is assisted by DIG (MAC),Commandant(Int) and PRO.

Establishment

The Establishment branch is functioning under the direction of IG(Estt.). They are supported in his tasks by DIG(Law) as well as DIG (Rectt).

Finance

The Finance Branch and Pay is controlled directly of the FA. This Finance Branch is helped by Dy.FA.

Medical

The Medical Branch is functioning under the direction of IG Director (Medical). The Medical Branch is supported by two Dy. Director (Medical).

The Central Reserve Police Force ( CRPF) is India's largest Central Armed Police Force. It is a part of the within the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of the Government of India. The main responsibility of the CRPF lies in supporting the States and Union Territories in their police operations that maintain peace and order and to combat insurgency. It came into existence as the Crown Representative's Police on the 27th July of 1939. Following Indian Independence, it became it's own Central Reserve Police Force on adoption of the CRPF Act on 28 December 1949.
